Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez., Found that Carlos Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, known as 'The Jackal', was a "revolutionary soldier" who fought for the Palestinian cause and hoped that " no one is offended "by that statement.

This is true of the size of the pyramids of Egypt. I'm telling the truth: he was a revolutionary Carlos Ilych Ramirez Sanchez. He was then called the Jackal to demonize, but it is a revolutionary combatant."

"I have news of (French President Nicolas) Sarkozy has been offended. I hope nobody is offended. No one would have to do it because I am a free man telling my truth. I'm not attacking anybody, I'm claiming the status of a compatriot of mine, "Chavez settled.

Ramirez, captured in 1994 in Khartoum, was convicted three years later to life imprisonment by the special court of assizes for the murder in Paris 1975 of two policemen and an informer in the French capital. Legend of international terrorism of the 70 and 80, the Venezuelan, born in Caracas in 1949, was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) of George Habash and participated in acts against Israeli interests.
